Shipping policy
At Cajun Connoisseur, we take pride in delivering high-quality, handcrafted butter products. Because our items are perishable and temperature-sensitive, we have established the following shipping policies to ensure product safety and clarity for our customers.
Please review this policy carefully before placing your order.
1. Perishable Nature of Products
All butter products are perishable and must be handled and stored properly upon delivery.
- Products must be refrigerated immediately upon receipt.
- Items are shipped in insulated packaging with ice packs.
- Slight softening during transit does not indicate spoilage.
- Customers assume responsibility for proper storage after delivery.
2. Shipping Schedule
To reduce the risk of spoilage due to transit delays:
- Orders ship Monday through Wednesday only.
- Orders placed after Wednesday at 12:00 PM CST will ship the following week.
- We do not ship on Thursdays, Fridays, weekends, or holidays.
- We reserve the right to delay shipment during extreme weather conditions to protect product integrity.
3. Delivery Requirements
- A valid street address is required (no P.O. Boxes).
- Someone must be available to receive the package on the first delivery attempt.
- We strongly recommend shipping to a business address if no one is home during delivery hours.
- Cajun Connoisseur is not responsible for packages left unattended.
4. Carrier Delays & Liability
Once a package is in the possession of the carrier, we are not responsible for:
- Carrier delays
- Weather-related disruptions
- Incorrect or incomplete shipping addresses
- Stolen packages
- Delivery exceptions beyond our control
Shipping insurance and signature confirmation may be required for higher-value orders.
5. Damaged or Spoiled Orders
If your order arrives damaged or unsafe:
You must contact us within 24 hours of delivery.
Please provide:
- Photos of the outer box
- Photos of the shipping label
- Photos of the product condition
- All original packaging
Failure to submit documentation within 24 hours may void eligibility for replacement consideration.
Refunds or replacements are issued solely at our discretion if product quality has been compromised due to our error.
Shipping charges are non-refundable unless the error was made by Cajun Connoisseur.
6. Weather Disclaimer
Because butter is temperature-sensitive:
- We monitor weather conditions in both shipping and destination locations.
- During extreme heat or cold, we may:
- Delay shipment
- Require expedited shipping upgrades
- Temporarily suspend shipping
Our priority is delivering safe, high-quality products.
7. Local Pickup & Delivery (Chicago Area)
To reduce shipping risks, we offer:
- Local pickup options
- Local delivery within designated service areas

8. Storage Instructions
Upon receipt:
- Refrigerate immediately.
- Do not leave product at room temperature for extended periods.
- Consume by the date indicated on packaging.
9. No Returns on Perishable Items
Due to food safety regulations, we do not accept returns on perishable products.
All butter sales are final.
